There is something very special about foaling season. It doesn't matter how many
foals we've brought into the world, each one has the same thrill as the very first. My husband
thinks I'm crazy when I tell him I can "smell" foaling season approaching, but there really is
something different about the air at that time of year.

Due to the steadily declining market we regretfully announce
that we have chosen not to breed back our mares in 2008,
so there there will be no foaling season for us in 2009.
The only exception is our old mare, Stormy's Carbon Lady.
Since she's nearing the end of her producing years and she's
been our best producing broodmare we made the decision
to go ahead and breed her to The Cookie Bandit.
Stormy's new foal should arrive in early April.

At long last.....our only 2009 baby has arrived.
Even though mom was 19 days overdue she still managed to surprise us and foal in the pasture. This is a mare that has had a lot of foals for us and she's usually very dependable. She waxes and drips before foaling. Not only did she not do either, her milk was still yellow the night before she foaled when I checked on her. Luckily she's an old pro and the foaling went off with no problems.
So having said all that we are happy to announce Chip's first foal: Stormy's Masked Bandit

This colt is a bay and white tobiano with one partially blue eye, and it's clear there is a lot of sabino influence in him also. These pictures were taken at two days old, and on his first trip outside the stall.
Since he is a "colt" he is for sale. He's out of our very best broodmare, Stormy's Carbon Lady. She has consitently produced walkie foals with great backends. This little guy would be a great prospect for those looking for a lite shod show prospect, future breeding stallion, or just a good smooth trail horse.
